Precision cooling control calculations, staging, reheat, humidity and field diagnostics.
Precision Cooling Diagnostic Tool • v10.8
iPhone: open this page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Once installed, it opens like a standalone app.
Identify the unit first, then enter conditions, then view results.
CRAC Buddy Inputs
How do you want to identify the unit?
Model / Nameplate Identification
Type a model number, take a new nameplate photo, or choose an existing photo from your device. Automatic text recognition depends on browser support; manual entry always works.
Current iCOM Temperature Settings
Enter the values currently programmed in the unit’s iCOM controller. These are the settings CRAC Buddy will use to calculate expected operation.
Cooling Unit & Configuration
Model Type filters compressor/reheat choices using Vertiv unit-family documentation. Exact availability can still depend on capacity, voltage, heat-rejection type and factory configuration.
SELECTED UNIT
No unit selected yet
Use either identification method above. You only need one.
Current Room Conditions
Enter what the unit is sensing right now. These are live room readings, not iCOM set points.
Current iCOM Humidity Settings
Enter the humidity values currently programmed in iCOM.
Proportional RH control: iCOM divides both the humidity proportional band and humidity dead band evenly around the humidity set point.
Installed Reheat Configuration
Reheat is filtered by the selected unit. Factory configuration can vary, so verify installed hardware.
Refrigeration Measurements
Enable Refrigeration Analysis
Refrigerant is selected automatically from the identified unit. R-407C uses dew point for superheat and bubble point for subcooling.
PI / Integration Time — Optional
Enable PI / Integration Analysis
Used only for PI analysis. It does not alter the normal cooling/reheat staging calculations.
Actual Unit Operation
Enable Expected vs Actual Diagnostics
Enter the controller values, then press Calculate. Dead band may be entered as 0. Results are rounded to one decimal place.
Reheat base = TSP - 50% TDB - 100% HDB
Reheat band width = 50% TPB

Meaning
Humidity calculations use the iCOM proportional humidity-control method: half the humidity proportional band and half the humidity dead band are placed on each side of the humidity setpoint. Dehumidification cooling starts at 100% dehumidification requirement and, once active, continues until demand returns to 0%.
Refrigeration Diagnostics
Refrigeration analysis is optional and currently disabled.

Assessment / What to Check
Use this as a calculation/reference aid. Always verify the actual iCOM configuration, control program, software revision, sensor reading, compressor sequencing and unit-specific service documentation before diagnosing hardware.
